I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.
~Matthew 25:34-36
MINISTRY & BENEVOLENCE FOCUS
When you contribute to the Operating Fund of Christ Lutheran, you are contributing to many different ongoing ministries of our church. In addition to this, we give monthly benevolence.
The benevolence that our church gives consists primarily of two parts: - One portion that we give to the Southwestern Texas Synod of the ELCA in support of our wider church and its extended ministries in this region and throughout the country.
- The other portion that we give to social outreach organizations outside our congregation.
Christ Lutheran Church does not run any social outreach programs in-house; therefore we dedicate our time and money to programs in the community and globally that we believe are doing a good and worthy job of sharing God's love with others. These organizations do not have to be Christian, but many of them are. Our benevolence money has been given to many organizations that help those who are poor, hungry, elderly and sick.
